Most of the events held at the beginning of the week were about paper work and the politics of going to school. There was much initial confusion about the city and transportation, but as the week progressed things became clearer. One thing that I would have liked to know was that the train that went to the station near my house stops running at 00:22. I was out at a bar with my new friends from the conservatory until 2(fantastic night of Danish pilsner tasting for only 12 dkk a beer). So upon arriving at the station and waiting for a few minutes until I realized my train was not coming, I asked a local and walk from there. It took about 45 or 50 minutes. On top of that, the part of town I was in was off the map so I had no clue.
I am learning the language slowly but with much practice. I sit on the train and just talk to myself in Danish trying to emulate the correct pronunciation. I can say who I am, where I am from, where I live, what I study, How I get to school, the questions to all the above, and the most important phrase to know “That is what she said Yesterday”. I sat through a 2 hour workshop on stage performance all in Danish haha. I think I got what she was putting down, but not much of the language pervaded my ears.
I am amazed at the willingness of the Danish I have meet and are now becoming friends with, to invite you me their group to hang out, without knowing me at all. I was invited to a traditional dinner by a fellow pianist. He made a simple yet delicious meal consisting of meatballs, boiled cabbage with sauce, and boiled potatoes. The meal was followed by coffee and candy, then beer and whiskey with tobacco and Miles Davis. Now I have to invite them over to have a Coloradan Meal! Maybe a steak Burrito and Green chili?
I have not been taking many digital photos, because I have been giving all my attention to the 35 Pentax K-1000 and two rolls of 36 exposure black and white 400 iso film. for the sake of remembering, I will start taking more digital pictures.
